Community Policing is based on the idea that
police and the community have joined together as partners to reduce crime and to
improve the quality of life. The community must accept and share responsibility
with the police for social order, and both must work cooperatively to identify
problems and develop pro-active community-wide solutions.

Crimes in India have shown a
steady increase over the last couple of years and needless to say to engage with
the police and to find ways of building bettercommunications between the people
and the police in order to tackle the situation, civil society groups in India
have taken initiatives in building synergies between police and civil society
for better governance.
